🌶️ TRS was born from a very simple need: finding the taste of home far from India. In 1959, Taherally Remanji Suterwalla, after moving from Mumbai to London, saw how difficult it was to source familiar spices, pulses, flours and other South Asian ingredients, and began importing them himself.
🫘 That small business grew into a brand that became a pantry foundation for many South Asian cooks: whole and ground spices, masalas, pulses, rice, flours, pastes, pickles and other staples. TRS is distinctive not because of one cult product, but because its range can form the base of dozens of everyday dishes.
At Taj Mahal, that breadth is exactly what makes TRS useful: turmeric, cardamom, chilli, cumin, pulses, flours, ghee, tamarind and other ingredients let you move from the idea of “Indian spices” to an actual homemade dal, curry, biryani or masala.
